IC INFORMATION;
Characters Name: Tomoe
Age: Over 500 years old!!
Canon: Kamisama Hajimemashita
Canon Point: Chapter 73, having just arrived in Inunaki Numa
Species: Fox demon
Gender: Male
Orientation: As a demon he doesn't care, but he's only shown sexual interest in women, so I'll be going with mostly straight. He's really great at gay chicken though, and when it comes to marriage/having a husband or a wife he honestly doesn't give a fuck. If your name isn't Nanami then he doesn't care.

History:
Not much is known about Tomoe's past before the story's beginning. However, we know three facts: first, before becoming a familiar spirit, Tomoe was one of the two most powerful demons that wrecked and pillaged villages; secondly, Tomoe fell in love with a woman named Yukiji, and even tried to become a human for this woman through a contract with a fallen god -- in the end, he was unable to become a human, and therefore was cursed to die; finally, the land god Mikage, who not only took Tomoe in and reversed the curse temporarily at the cost of the fox's memories, but also made Tomoe his familiar for 500 years, disappeared, leaving Tomoe and the Mikage shrine godless.

Twenty years later, Tomoe receives a shock: not only has his master Mikage denounced his title as land god, but he also anointed a human high school student as his protege. Initially refusing at first, Tomoe is forced to become Momozono Nanami's familiar due to a turn of events. Although initially perturbed by the thought of having such a weak master, Tomoe decides to teach Nanami to be an excellent land god worthy to be his master. Unfortunately - Nanami kind of sucks at it. Fortunately, she also attracts many other demons that wish to take her title - and for someone who used to be incredibly bloodthirsty, this is a godsend to him.

His first opponent - a youkai with the appearance of an old, frail woman - is the propellant for Nanami contracting Tomoe. When he comes to watch Nanami be eaten by this demon, he ends up accidentally saving her in the midst of mocking her. Then, the princess of Tatara Numa (Tatara Swamp) comes to request Nanami for help regarding her love - however, the servant that arrived with her insults Tomoe, and after a verbal lashing, the two of them end up duking it out. Tomoe wins, but then Nanami stops him from cooking the fish for dinner - and it is during this time that Nanami discovers her ability to restrict Tomoe. Later on, they accept Princess Himemiko's request (although Tomoe was incredibly and vehemently against it, as the object of Himemiko's affection was a human) and end up finding Himemiko's love and bringing them back together.

After this incident, Nanami returns to school, only to be humiliated by her classmates, and Tomoe saves her by bringing her an extravagant lunch. It is, however, discovered the next day that the newest transfer student, a popular idol by the name of Kurama, is in fact a tengu demon with the mission of eating Nanami's heart. Again: they duke it out, and Tomoe wins, but before he can cook Kurama, Nanami stops the fight again, and the situation is amended. However, a new obstacle arrives in the form of Narukami, goddess of thunder, who intends to take Tomoe as her own familiar. Before he is able to fight, however, the fox is cursed into a smaller body - however, because he is not completely smaller, and only physically smaller, his vast demonic power backfires on him, the rampant energy going wild and causing him to become very sick. He and Nanami go into hiding under the care of Kurama, but eventually, Tomoe returns to Narukami in order to return to his adult form. Long story short, Tomoe hides in Mikage's mirror, and Nanami is the only one who can find him - Narukami gives up and goes home, returning Tomoe back to normal! Happy ending.

Except, of course, it doesn't end there - Mizuki, a white snake and rival familiar of Tomoe's, comes and kidnaps Nanami in order to marry her! Tomoe finds her, and burns down Mizuki's shrine after making it evident that Mizuki no longer has a master to serve after the land god Yonomori died. It's a tough life being a snake. Nanami later catches a cold, and so Tomoe is forced to shapeshift into Nanami's form and go to school. (This was incredibly fun, and he did a bit of abusing to Kurama, who normally gets along well with Nanami.) Additionally, it's not only Nanami's well being he has to watch out for - suspecting that his master might be falling in love with him, Tomoe ends up hanging the girl over the railing of an incredibly tall building until she gives up on her love. (She doesn't, of course, and he ends up dropping her - but he catches her, so it's all good!)

During a fun episode ~at the beach~, it's discovered that the lord of the seven seas, the Dragon King, has some extreme beef with Tomoe, and --! For a change, kidnaps him. However, Tomoe allowed himself to be kidnapped, and fights against the water king. Predictably, Nanami stops the fight, and Tomoe is disgusted to find out that his master has made a familiar contract with Mizuki as well.

From that point on, for a while, it's peaceful: Nanami hosts a festival at the shrine, and afterwards, takes a test to go to the annual God conference in Izumo, while Tomoe is opposed to both of these events. Nanami passes the test and is able to go to Izumo, but then gets into trouble and Tomoe has to find her -- in hell! He goes a little crazy, unsealing his powers and beating up the god of War, and then ends up getting jailed because of it. He's, fortunately, freed - after he reinstates his contract with Nanami, and they spend a bit of time in Izumo and enjoy a festival there before returning home. It's then that the group is forced to go to Kurama mountain for the sake of Kurama (the tengu demon that tried to eat Nanami before). After helping the tengu, Tomoe takes a drunk Nanami back home - and confesses his love for her (although she's asleep). What Tomoe doesn't know is that at this time, his curse (see: first paragraph) is beginning to return because of that confession. As the beginning of the new year approaches, Tomoe is blissfully unaware of the curse mark that is reappearing on his chest. When the trio (Nanami, Tomoe, Mizuki) go to the Zodiac shrine, Nanami is lost in the passage of time, and Tomoe and Mizuki go to rescue her - only to be hurled into her forgotten memories of the time when she lived with her mother. At this point, they meet four year old Nanami, and after rescuing(?) Nanami from Tomoe, he again professes his love for her, this time even proposing to her. Since it's in her memories, and not the past, the 17 year old Nanami doesn't remember this, and Tomoe is disheartened; they make it to the Zodiac shrine without incident. Later on, on New Year's Eve, Tomoe goes to the demon market to buy wood talismans for the Mikage shrine, and Nanami unwittingly follows suit. She ends up being chased by malicious demons, but stops them with her own power, while Tomoe is frantically panicking as he searches for her. They reunite and return home, just in time for the new year.

The arc that Tomoe will arrive into Anatole begins with this: the Mikage shrine is completely kidnapped, taken to Inunaki Numa; Tomoe and Mikage are spared, as they were absent on account of shopping for snacks - however, Nanami has been kidnapped along with the shrine, and the two familiars go to Tatara Numa to find her (as they aren't familiar with Inunaki Numa yet). Himemiko, recently dumped by her human boyfriend, greets them, and arranges for the three of them to go to Inanuki Numa (Himemiko with the intent of killing the Inanuki Numa prince for harming her human boyfriend).

This is the point I will be taking Tomoe from.

Appearance: White haired! Obviously without ears or tail in Holly Heights.
Personality:
Although many characters in Kamisama Hajimemashita are pure, earnest fellows, Tomoe is not one of them. In fact, it's not much of an exaggeration to say that he is likely one of the worst characters in the series, moral and personality-wise. Not only is he uncaring of anyone other than Nanami, he's incredibly malevolent when asked for help. He is cunning, lying easily with a toothy smile, and is quick to attack those who wish ill upon his master. He is truthful only when insulting people, and is incredibly blunt (perhaps too much so) when pointing out flaws; in this regard, he is petty - he refuses to let Nanami use her paper talismans because of the awful handwriting and the stench of oranges, and he is constantly critical of her actions. It's an incredible feat to hear a compliment from Tomoe (unless you're a tanuki-prostitute and/or a woman he doesn't know, then he tends to crank the flattering up to "flirty"). Tomoe is sadistic, stating in a flashback that he liked to hear the screams of those he slayed; additionally, he has no qualms about killing anything. There are numerous times when Tomoe transforms his (or Nanami's) attacker and turns them into an animal to cook and feed Nanami; and at another point, he threatens to break Nanami's leg as punishment for running around everywhere. He isn't very empathetic; when Nanami is bullied at school, Tomoe is actually quite happy with this, as he believes that Nanami will quit school. However, he isn't incorrigible; after Nanami lashes back at him, he realizes that he hurt her, and takes action to prevent anyone from bullying her again. Still, this is something he only ever does for Nanami; his master is the only one who ever sees his gentle side, and Nanami especially has been given a lot of special treatment. Other people aren't so lucky; when Tomoe finds Mizuki's old shrine and the kidnapped Nanami, he, in vengeance, burns the entire shrine - and almost burns down the plum tree that was Mizuki's only memoir of his land god; the only reason why he stops is because Nanami demanded him to.

It's easy to tell what makes Tomoe click. He is an isolated person who only needs one thing to be satisfied with life; in the beginning, when he was a wild fox, he had Akura-Ou, who was his comrade in evil, and that person was the only one he ever cared for. Afterwards, it was Yukiji, the human that he loved; when he went to Mikage, Mikage's wellbeing was the only thing he cared for, and now? Now, Nanami is the only one he thinks about. Everything he does revolves around Nanami - although he doesn't particularly like being so one-track minded, Tomoe simply doesn't have anything else - without a master, without someone or a direction to devote himself to, Tomoe tends to do nothing but laze about and drink all day.

Tomoe is highly adaptable when put in a situation that he has no way out of; when he's forced into the contract with Nanami initially, he doesn't seek to free himself - instead, resigned, Tomoe immediately goes to study how to cook for Nanami's sake, and tidies up her room to make it more comfortable for her to live in. Unless forced into a situation though, Tomoe is stubborn - about everything. He pointedly fills Nanami's lunch with a lot of mushroom dishes, although she hates mushrooms, and he also continues to force her to wear a protective hat. It's simultaneously hard and easy to make him flustered - that is to say, there is nothing that makes Tomoe flustered except through Nanami. We only see Tomoe flustered to the point of being unable to function properly twice: when Nanami was kidnapped by Mizuki, and when Nanami was taken by Jirou, the tengu, to fly up into the sakura tree. The former is from shock and worry - naturally, he was incredibly worried about Nanami, but the second can be explained with jealousy. Tomoe is highly conflicted - he lives by the belief that humans and demons cannot become romantically involved, but he is completely infatuated with Nanami, and so has a hard time dealing with his feelings. At the point I'm taking him from, he seems to, at least, be resolved with his feelings - that is to say, he knows he likes Nanami - but he won't admit it to her, nor will he admit that he'd like demons and humans to be able to become romantically involved and happy.

Abilities:
Tomoe is, firstly, a demon - and thus has demonic powers, specifically that of a fox. He uses fox fire, which is a blue flame - and with the fox fire, conjure will o'wisps that do simple tasks (like looking for things). Additionally, he is able to use enchanted leaves to transform people - whether himself or others - physically.

As a familiar spirit of the Mikage shrine, Tomoe is able to magically maintain the shrine. Additionally, due to complications with his masters, Tomoe has made himself capable of cooking many dishes (although he doesn't need to eat) and other housework things! He's also able to produce illusions.

There aren't many items that Tomoe carries with him, but he does often carry around his fan - which he frequently shows off. Additionally, since this is a Super Important item to him, I am taking the liberty of giving Tomoe Mikage's pocket mirror, which he uses to rest in.

First Person:

[ good morning, Holly Heights! Today, the newest arrival is a rather irritable-looking white haired man. ]

Where did that Himemiko go.. for that matter, where is this place? Where did that bastard fish send me--?

[ Lifting his arm up, he scours through the inside of his sleeve before extracting a fan, and with one swift flick, he opens the object, covering his scowl with the flowery design. After a few moments of looking around, he sighs, fanning himself. ]

This place isn't familiar to me -- but more importantly, I must find Nanami. [ With that said, he takes a step forward experimentally, and when he's judged that the ground is safe, he takes a few more strides, and begins to mutter to himself; the phone's mic is just barely able to pick it up. ]

What a troublesome master.. Getting kidnapped first by her dinner last week, and now by some other hand. [ Again, he sighs loudly, and it seems that he's picked up the rhythm of fanning. ] Well, there's not much helping it. There's not much she can do without the great me, after all.

[ He allows himself to smirk - just for a brief moment, before turning around and pacing back to his original spot. ]

Now then... How shall I find this troublesome master of mine .. ah, perhaps I should just burn everything down. [ with a sinister snicker, he snaps his fan shut, and the feed ends. ]
